About me:
Retired local government officer. Started birding in 1968 and have gradually added other groups over the years. Recently discovered the Pan-Species Listing world and realised that I was missing out on whole areas of the natural world that I regularly just walk past. I have also in the past been Chair of the Somerset Bat Group, the Somerset Moth Group (www.somersetmothroup.org.uk) and the Somerset Invertebrates Group, I must learn not to blink first at meetings. I once lived in Norfolk and was the first Honorary Warden of Upton Fen NWT Reserve. While there, I also took part in the Country Life 24 hour bird races and was never on the losing team. To my eternal shame, I have only ever seen one Wallcreeper in the UK. I am a keen photographer and like the macro end of things best. Since retiring, I spend most of my leisure time monitoring things on the Somerset Levels, particularly the Avalon Marshes set of reserves.
