About me:
Amateur and semi-professional (?) naturalist, conservationist, novice PSL-er, wildlife and nature dabbler at the Wild Flower Barn near Herstmonceux, East Sussex. I normally only twitch (birds) if it's walkable but have to confess I went to see the Waxwings at Lewes in December 2012 as it was handy for Christmas shopping. I live seasonally on what's basically an agricultural grazing plot that I've allowed to revert back to nature since 1993 - which is when I should have started my pan-species list. Any serious PSL-er would be in their element here on this plot ...
My bogey species:
Far too many to list when you're a non-twitching PSL late-starter. OK - a Hoopoe has to be up there. Seen quite a few ... but still none in the UK.
My most wanted:
Anything I haven't yet ticked - spoilt for choice. A Clifden Nonpareil in the moth-trap would be pretty good. Maybe anything in my 1km square that would also make it into Birdguides ...
My grippers:
Dentated Pug (Anticollix sparsata) turned up in Dave and Pen's moth trap when they visited one evening in 2011. Nascia cilialis came to my kitchen window when the light was on one evening in June last year and Coppery Longhorn (Nemophora cupriacella) on Fleabane was rare-ish last July (for Sussex at least). Otherwise, Fen raft spider (Dolomedes plantarius), Spiked rampion (Phyteuma spicatum), Coralroot bittercress (Cardamine bulbifera) are all very close by ... but nothing too exciting I'm afraid. And Otters and a Basking Shark (or three) from the dim and distant past ...
Latest addition:
Esperia sulphurella just over a week ago but no moth-trap at the moment. Still slowly updating all taxa. My (1100) 1KSQ species from 2013 are now on, as are all my birds and butterflies plus a meagre (Sussex only) odonata total. A couple more moths too but still a long way to go to get all the plants up to date ...
