Cladonia furcata

Cladonia furcata. This is another species with a spikey form, and is frequent in heathland and in acid grassland. It is usually more upright, and can be greener. A fatter, more procumbent version, subspecies subrangiformis occurs in calcaroues grassland habitats. This subspecies has been given full specific status in the past. This photograph was taken on Portelet Common in Jersey.
