Cladonia floerkeana

Cladonia floerkeana. Similar to Cladonia diversa, but the podetia are more of a bluish grey rather than yellowish green. The apothecia are also usually darker, and it is not nearly such a variable species. It is relatively common in heathland and on heathy banks as well as on siliceous rocks. The podetia are frequently densely squamulose. This photograph was taken on Portelet Common in Jersey.
