Caloplaca lactea

Caloplaca lactea. A locally fairly frequent species characterised by the rather thin, white thallus and the bright orange apothecia. It occurs on calcareous habitats, and may fairly frequently be seen on shells, particularly oyster shells. This photograph was taken on Portland, Dorset. I omitted to say in the photograph of Caloplaca dalmatica that it was taken on the walls of Gorey Castle, Jersey.
