Caloplaca ferruginea

Caloplaca ferruginea. This is the corticolous counterpart of Caloplaca crenularia. It occurs on basic bark, and is relatively frequent in Western Scotland where it can be seen particularly on young ash branches. This photograph was taken on an oak tree in Parham Park, Sussex, its only Sussex site. It is very scarce in the New Forest, and only becomes less scarce further west.
