Cortinarius violaceus (Violet Webcap)

While out walking the dog on Ashdown Forest today we just stumbled across this. It was in a young wood, mostly birch, with a bit of oak and Scots pine, that looks like it has only grown up since the First World War (judging from the rifle pits and remains of test trenches there are there). It is nationally rare, but a friend also found some today while walking elsewhere in the forest.
