A successful bug hunt was had around Black Pond yesterday afternoon in the searing heat, with 9 species of Odonata snapped up. These were the coolest things that posed long enough for a photo - Woodland Grasshopper, Crambus hamella, Small Red Damselfly and Black Darter.
Esher Common is fantastically productive in late summer, well worth a visit if you're ever down that way. It's quite nice to have it on the doorstep!
