Fish (I'm not good with titles)

I mentioned on the facebook page recently about my aim to improve my fish species but with less than conventional manners. This has led to me enlisting the help of a tech savvy friend to get cameras underwater. After a couple of false starts we managed to get this view of brook lamprey.

As you can see we need a bit of practice getting the camera where we want it whilst fighting the current but I'm quite pleased with the results.

Also managed to film pike and some annonymous small fish which I haven't managed to ID yet. Minnow and trout where also present. Next, I'll be trying for grayling.

Wow, and a whole shoal of them! I've never seen a lamprey but I've seen (on TV) a guy with a glass-bottomed bucket walk right up to a lamprey which, like yours, didn't spook. Are lampreys always this tolerant of a close approach? I've never seen a Grayling either so looking forward to that particular vid too :)

I think it is like a lot of spawning animals, they are too distracted by their task at hand to find if you get close, especially if they are going to die immediately after. I've got a feeling grayling aren't going to be as to approach though.

Aah, yes that makes sense. I

Aah, yes that makes sense. I didn't realise they were actively spawning. Bloody obvious now you mention it though! Good luck with the rest of them, your primary task now is to get within 2ft of a non-spawning Grayling...and no bumping the camera on the riverbed either ;)
