Fulgensia bracteata

Fulgensia bracteata. A scaly looking species with ill defined marginal lobes, It is an arctic species occurring on one sugar limestone buttress in North Scotland above a thousand metres. This photograph was taken on soil above the burnt wooden foundations of houses destroyed by the Germans in Longyearbyen, Spitzbergen. In Scotland, it is on the very southern edge of its range, and is very probably circumpolar.
