Cladonia digitata

Cladonia digitata. Another species which occurs most frequently, as seen here as squamules. In this species, the squamules are rather large with the underside and margins liberally coated with powdery soralia. It is a fairly common species on dead wood, rotting logs and as here, on relatively acid barked trees. This photograph was taken on an oak tree in Parham Park, West Sussex.
