Cladonia bellidiflora

Cladonia bellidiflora. Another red fruited species. This is similar to Cladonia diversa, but is usually more robust, and covered in squamules that do not lie flat against the podetia. It differs from C. metacorallifera in that the squamules point in all directions, and cover the entire lichen. It is an upland species usually on siliceous rock such as granite. This photograph was taken in Bradgate Park, Leicestershire.
